The Baltic resort town Jurmala is located 20 km from the Latvian capital Riga on the Riga gulf.

Jurmala is well-known for its perfect health service and is extremely popular with holiday-markets.

It is famous for its natural curative features – mild sea climate, sea air, vast pine woods, curative muds and different mineral waters.

The territory of Jurmala covers a narrow peninsula (about 40 km), wasted from one side by the Riga Bay and the other side girded by the Lielupe River.

The resort is attractive by its golden sandy 30 km long beach, vast pine forest and the town’s natural border – the Lielupe River.

Jurmala has a long history. Separate parts of Jurmala – Sloka was founded in the 13h century, the first written mention of the districts – Dubulti and Melluzi goes back to the 16th and 17th century.

Officially Jurmala as a resort was founded in 1838.
